The Statistica software has for several years now been available to all staff and students of Masaryk University in Brno, and in our experience it is widely used by them.

In addition to the installations used directly by staff and students, the software is also installed in a number of computer labs and used for standard teaching in at least three of the university's faculties, for the order of hundreds of students per year. The number of regular users of the software can then again be estimated at hundreds to thousands.

As for our department (the Center for Biostatistics and Analyses at Masaryk University), whose primary focus is the analysis of biological and medical data as well as teaching data analysis for biological and medical fields, this is the main statistical software used in our work.

The main advantages we see in the Statistica software are the wide range of available methods, spanning from classical descriptive statistics to a number of sophisticated methods of multivariate analysis and stochastic modelling; the extensive help that well documents both the practical use of the methods and their mathematical background; the graphical options for presenting results; and, last but not least, the seamless interoperability with other software (databases, other statistical software, MS Office, etc.).

When used in teaching, these features are complemented by a user-friendly interface and good application speed even on less powerful computers.

In conclusion, based on our long-term experience, we can fully recommend this software to everyone interested in the analysis of biological and clinical data, as well as to all schools and teachers who teach this discipline.
